Mechanical Design Engineer

You will lead and assist in the design of mechanical systems, HVAC and plumbing for industrial and commercial buildings which include schools, universities, office, banks, healthcare, manufacturing, warehouse, municipal imaging, etc. Other project experience is desirable. Responsibilities and job requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide HVAC and plumbing system design and layout utilizing Revit and AutoCAD including coordination with all disciplines
  • Load calculations, equipment selection, and other related design tasks under the guidance of the Project Manager and other senior technical staff
  • HVAC and plumbing system design and drawing preparation under the direction of the Project Manager, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of project types and sizes
  • Ability to design various HVAC system types under the guidance of the Project Manager, including applied equipment, packaged rooftop, split systems, VAV, displacement ventilation, 4-pipe, VRF, makeup air, etc.
  • Work closely with the internal design team as well as external clients and consultants including owners, builders, developers, program managers, contractors, architects, vendors, etc.
  • May assist Project Managers or senior designers in the on-going determination of project scheduling requirements, resource requirements, and project budgets
  • Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports
  • Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team
  • May assist the Project Manager or senior designer in processing RFI’s, Change Orders, Bulletins, etc.
  • Must take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you.

Relevant Skills & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum AAS Degree in related technical field or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Mechanical systems design or Mechanical Contracting
  • Exhibits thorough understanding of applicable codes
  • Design mechanical systems

  • Developing system narratives (writing, organizing the document, develop images)
  • Coordinate mechanical system design with architects and other disciplines

  • Proficient working in Revit and/or AutoCAD.

  • Proficient in design and calculation software.
  • Possesses basic understanding of proper system selection and determination of project design solutions
